We in the western world are not aware of how picture languages have been used for thousands of years and still today are the chosen method for over one quarter of the globe.  This section is designed to show how some picture languages work and how Hebrew parallels other pictorial languages.  Over the months, we will show you different forms of how mankind has written in pictures.

   The first, and one of the most ancient, is Chinese.  w have drawn on a number of scholars to give you a view of how this picture language works and also how it parallels Hebrew. 

    Chinese words are made up of characters. 

    Each character began as ancient pictographs.

    Each of these Chinese characters is a simple picture.

This same concept can be seen in Hebrew where each letter began as an ancient pictograph.
