For Hebrew Word Pictures to be accurate, we need to know that the ancient letter Alef, in shape and in name, signified an ox or a bull (and therefore carried the meaning of what is strong and what is first).

Christian, Jewish and secular resources are consistent in teaching the original meaning of the letter Alef.  Notice that most of the resources will describe Alef as an ox or a bull, and as being used as the Hebrew number one.

This page will change every 4-6 weeks, so that we can cover the entire Alef-Bet approximately every 2 1/2 years.
