For centuries, people, cultures and nations have written in word pictures.  Here are some of the ways that we have used word pictures to communicate with each other.

Our main focus will be teaching the Hebrew Word Pictures and the scriptural precepts that they describe so clearly.  Many of us have not been brought up reading only sounds, so we are including other picture languages, from Chinese to American Sign, to give you a foundation in understanding how picture languages are used (and why they are not more primitive than our own).

Much of this material will be changed every 4-6 weeks.

Hebrew Letters

Hebrew is important because it is the primary language of the Bible. The Hebrew Letters pages will show you how the letters work and how the letter is clearly and powerfully used in a number of word pictures.

Chinese
Word Pictures

We have added Chinese Word Pictures to show how we have used pictures to communicate throughout history and how many of the same precepts in Hebrew Word Pictures are the same as those used in Chinese.  Click on the Chinese Word Pictures icon and you can see how pictures are used to form Chinese words. (In the future we will use other picture languages to show the same concepts).

Phoenician

Phoenician was a sister language that can help confirm the Hebrew pictures and some of their meanings. The Phoenician page will show the meanings of each letter.

More from China

More From China gives examples of how word pictures work in another pictorial language.  These pages will help you understand what would be lost if Chinese, as well as other languages, were written just through sounds instead of using pictures.

From Pictures
to Alphabets

All of the western alphabets came from the Phoenician-Hebrew letters.  Pictures to Alphabets has a chart that shows the history of different alphabets that came from the ancient pictures-letters.

NOTE: The sections above will always be changing, so, if a subject that you are interested in disappears, don't worry, it will be coming back.  If you want one subject more often, or just more of it, write or e-mail us and we will take it into consideration on future material.
